Donegal Youth Council has developed The Study & College Toolkit, a practical guide designed to support young people as they prepare for examinations, explore further and higher education options, and plan their future career pathways.

Created by young people for young people, the toolkit brings together useful information on study techniques, learning styles, subject selection for the Leaving Certificate, college application processes, apprenticeships, financial supports and student wellbeing resources.

The guide includes:

  • Study tips and revision strategies tailored to different learning styles.
  • Advice on choosing Leaving Certificate subjects.
  • Information on CAO and UCAS applications.
  • Guidance on apprenticeships and alternative education pathways.
  • Details on DARE and HEAR access schemes.
  • Information on financial supports including SUSI grants, scholarships and student assistance funds.
  • Links to study resources and wellbeing supports available to students.

The toolkit aims to help young people make informed decisions about their education, access available supports, and develop effective study habits that will assist them throughout their academic journey.
