Hi, my name is Erica, and I’m proud to represent my Comhairle na nÓg at the National Youth Assembly 2025/2026.
I joined the Assembly to meet new people and make new friends, and it has been such a rewarding experience so far. I’ve been most passionate about the Rural Assembly, as it highlights important issues affecting young people in different parts of the country. Being part of the Assembly has really helped me grow in confidence. I feel much more comfortable speaking up and sharing my ideas, and I’ve learned so much just by working with others.
It has also completely changed my perspective. Meeting young people from across Ireland showed me how differently issues can affect us depending on where we live. It’s been amazing to learn from each other’s experiences. One of the best parts has been making so many new friends along the way. I also love travelling to Dublin for meetings – it’s helped me become more independent, especially learning how to use public transport.
I truly believe the Assembly is making a difference. It gives young people a chance to have their voices heard, and that’s so important. Looking ahead, I’m really excited for the meetings in 2026, meeting even more people, and hearing different perspectives on the issues that matter to us. If I could give one piece of advice, it would be this: go for it. Even if you’re not sure you’ll enjoy it, give it a try.
You’ll meet amazing people, make great friends, and most importantly, your voice will be heard.
