Bairbre Meaney is responsible for implementing the government’s commitment to including the voices of children and young people in decision-making processes within the Participation, Play and Recreation Unit.

She is most passionate about raising awareness of children and young people’s right to contribute to decision-making on issues that affect them, and she actively supports civil and public servants in realising this right through their policy-making processes.

Bairbre is inspired by the words of Mary Oliver – ‘Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?’
