Young people across Ireland are being invited to take part in the National Conversation on Education, which is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to help shape the future of our education system.
The Department of Education and Youth has launched a nationwide consultation to gather views from children, young people, parents, educators and communities on what education in Ireland should look like in the years ahead. The outcomes of this conversation will inform the agenda for the upcoming Convention on Education, which will take place in 2026 and will help shape a long-term vision for education in Ireland.
Young people can take part by completing the online National Conversation on Education Survey or by coming together in groups to discuss the key questions and submit a collective response. Schools, youth groups and organisations are also encouraged to host their own conversations and share their insights through the official submissions process.
The survey is open now and will remain available until 28 February 2026.
You can take part by visiting: gov.ie/educationconvention
To support participation, the Department has provided partner packs in both English and Irish. These include social media assets, a QR code for easy access to the survey, newsletter content and email templates to help spread the word and encourage as many young people as possible to have their say.
The packs are available to download below:
